Countdown to Cyber Monday

How many days until the online deals drop?

Monday after Thanksgiving - the biggest online shopping day.

The Smarter Shopping Day

Cyber Monday is my preferred shopping day. You get the same deals as Black Friday (often better), but you're shopping in your pajamas instead of fighting crowds at 5am. The deals come to you - you just need your laptop and a plan.

As someone who builds web apps, I'm online anyway. Cyber Monday fits my workflow. Open multiple browser tabs, compare prices in real-time, and checkout before the good stuff sells out.

Why I Prefer Cyber Monday

Black Friday

  • • Crowds, lines, parking nightmares
  • • Limited stock at doorbuster prices
  • • Impulse buying in-store
  • • Exhausting after Thanksgiving food coma

Cyber Monday ✓

  • • Shop from your couch
  • • Easy price comparison
  • • More time to think before buying
  • • Same or better discounts

My Cyber Monday Routine

Here's what actually works for online deal hunting:

📋 Prep Your Cart

Add items to cart before Monday. When deals go live, prices update automatically. You just refresh and checkout.

🔍 Use Price Trackers

CamelCamelCamel for Amazon, Honey for everything else. Know the real price history so you don't fall for fake "was $500, now $250" tricks.

💳 Stack Discounts

Use cashback portals (Rakuten, TopCashback), apply coupon codes, and use a credit card with purchase rewards. I've stacked 15-20% extra on top of sales.

⏰ Shop Early or Late

Best deals often go live at midnight or late evening. Peak hours (lunch time) means slower websites and sold-out inventory.

Best Categories for Cyber Monday

💻 Tech & Electronics

Laptops, tablets, headphones, smart home devices. This is Cyber Monday's core territory. Expect 20-40% off.

🎮 Gaming

Consoles, games, accessories. Nintendo and PlayStation deals are rare outside of Cyber Monday. Worth the wait.

📱 Software & Subscriptions

Adobe, Microsoft, VPNs, streaming services. Annual plans get heavily discounted. I renew everything on Cyber Monday.

🛒 Small Appliances

Robot vacuums, instant pots, air fryers. These see genuine discounts and make great gifts.

Quick Stats

  • $12+ billion spent online on Cyber Monday. It's officially bigger than Black Friday for online shopping.
  • Created in 2005 by Shop.org. Retailers noticed people shopped online on Monday after returning to work with fast internet.
  • Peak shopping hours are 8-10pm local time. People browse after dinner and pull the trigger.
  • 30% average discount - but varies wildly. Some items barely discounted, others genuinely 50%+ off.
