Martin Šikula

Hi there!

I'm Martin, and I'm the person who built all of this. I work as a web developer - I run an agency called Šikulovi s.r.o. We build websites, e-commerce stores, handle SEO, and create various web applications.

And like anyone who sits at a computer all day, I have trouble staying focused. Facebook, YouTube, "just quickly checking my email" - you know how it goes. I tried various Pomodoro apps, but they were either bloated with features, required registration, or simply didn't work the way I needed them to.

So I thought - hey, I'm a programmer, I'll build my own. And that's how Free Timer was born.

Why productivity?

I've been interested in productivity for years - partly because I personally need help staying focused. I built these tools primarily for myself. When they helped me, I figured they might help others too.

I'm not writing here as some productivity guru. More like someone who knows how hard it is to focus, and is looking for ways to deal with it. Sometimes successfully, sometimes less so.

Outside of work

When I'm not building websites or tweaking timers, I try various productivity techniques (with varying success), play board games, and try not to fall into the procrastination trap. Occasionally I run - parkrun is a nice motivation.
