Cooking Times: Eggs, Rice, Pasta & More
The times I actually use after ruining too many dinners.
I keep forgetting how long things take to cook. Eggs especially - I've made rubber hockey pucks and runny disasters. So I wrote it all down. Now I just open this page, set a timer, and actually get consistent results.
🥚 Boiled Eggs
Cold water start, bring to boil, then start your timer:
Runny yolk, set whites
Jammy yolk, firm whites
Fully set yolk
Tip: Transfer to ice water immediately to stop cooking.
🍚 Rice
Absorption method (don't lift the lid!):

| White long grain | 1:1.5 | 15-18 min |
| Basmati | 1:1.5 | 12-15 min |
| Jasmine | 1:1.25 | 12-15 min |
| Brown rice | 1:2 | 40-45 min |
| Sushi rice | 1:1.2 | 15-20 min |
| Wild rice | 1:3 | 45-55 min |
Let rest 5 minutes after cooking, then fluff with fork.

Set a Timer
I built the kitchen timer because I kept forgetting about food on the stove. Set the time from this page, then go do something else. The alarm will remind you before things burn.
